Business Manager Recruitment

Many head teachers and governors are confident about recruiting leaders for curriculum and pastoral roles but the business management area can present more of a challenge for them. You may be thinking about appointing a Business Manager for the first time or want to consider your options for changing your current structure.  You may want to look at how a Shared Business Manager could work across a group of schools.  Or you may just need some help with an interview process for an already established role.


The following outlines some of the support that you may wish to consider.  I would be pleased to provide more information to enable you to select the areas of support that are most suited to your needs.


Reviewing the Business Management Needs - a vacancy can provide the chance to consider your options across the range of business management functions a school may need and how the proposed role may be designed to compliment your other staffing, externally sourced support and future needs.


Recruitment Materials - production of a draft job description and personnel specification including support with the job evaluation process where appropriate.  Guidance is also available on the consideration of appropriate salary and other terms and conditions including working hours, patterns and holiday timings etc.


Recruitment process - advice on your options for advertising and other recruitment methods including the potential use of recruitment agencies and executive search. Assistance with designing and implementing your selection process including format and content of interviews, practical assessments and consideration of options for pre interview screening and psychometric testing. Support available with short listing and long listing and the scrutiny and assessment of applications.


Attendance at interviews - either combined with above services or as stand alone support for your interview process.


Post Appointment Support - identification of options for the successful induction and mentoring of the new appointee.


Pricing - as the support is flexible, exact pricing will depend on the support required but is based around charges of £450 per day or £295 for a half day for attendance at the school with desk based work at £60 per hour.  Exact charges and any travel costs are discussed and agreed with you in advance.
